This lovely photograph of two French women was either taken or given to James Doran, of Harrison, New Jersey, in 1945. At that time during World War Two he was serving as a Military Policeman, after being severely wounded in the Normandy D-Day invasion in June of 1944, while serving with the 4th Infantry Division. His date of separation from the Army was 18 November 1945, and the last city he was in was Le Havre. I’m not sure where in France this was taken. From the back of the photo, I think it was taken October 3, 1945, and shows a waitress and the proprietress of the Cafe Michelle. I’m afraid of damaging the photo by removing the black areas from when it was glued in a photo album. Any suggestions are always appreciated!
