
Who are these people? That is often the starting point for doing research with my sister, when we look at family photographs. Here we have Mary Mirota sitting on the banks of a lake. She has her hands clasped together. The woman next to her looked very familiar. The women in the swim-cap is a mystery, as is the young man in the canoe.

I think she is the same woman in this wedding photo. After I sent this wedding photo to a childhood friend or mine, she identified the couple as Martha Vladich and Elsworth Bushnell, from when they married at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, in Whitehouse Station, NJ.
These people were friends and neighbors in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The first photo looks like it could have been taken at Whitehouse Lake, also called Cushetunk Lake. I think both of these photos were taken in the 1940s.
