Six Word Saturday – 29 March 2014

Sit down and rest a spell!

Riviera Beach, Florida - 1946- Ben and Maude Eisenberger Stewart
Riviera Beach, Florida – 1946- Benjamin and Maude Eisenberger Stewart

Benjamin and Maude Stewart were a hardworking couple, but they also knew how to relax. Here they are enjoying the good life in Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida with their trailer home pulled into its winter resting spot. I love their camp stools, and Maude’s pretty dress. Ben Stewart owned and operated the Kingston Garage in Kingston, New Jersey. Maude kept all the workers fed with good old-fashioned Pennsylvania Dutch food. By 1946, Ben’s son, Dick, was old enough to take over running the garage in his father’s absence.

I’m planning on doing some Stewart genealogy research today, since it’s a rainy day. The family roots go back to Chestnut Level, Lancaster County, PA. Happy Saturday! Enjoy!

Six Word Saturday is a blogging prompt suggested by Cate at Show My Face.

    1. I agree, Amberly! The first thing I would ask is about Ben’s mother, Olive, who was murdered when she was 24, and he was 4. Some stories are so sad. I’m glad you got to talk to your family recently, and went through photographs. Good luck researching!

    1. Jo, Thanks for stopping by! The good news here is the forecast for next week – sunny and in the 70s. I hope the sun comes out for you!
