Three reasons why I think it was a warm, autumn afternoon – 1) The nearly leafless tree alongside of the white outbuilding; 2) Zofia’s dark dress has long sleeves but she is not wearing a sweater or a coat; and 3) no smoke is rising from the farmhouse chimney.
The draft horse’s name is Big Jake. It only dawned on me after starting our family research that this horse was probably named after Jozef’s father, Jacob Mirota.

What a fun family photo to have! Here in the South it is too muggy now to be outside long. You just enjoy the beautiful Maine out-of-doors & doing the shorter posts, lucky!
